Reskilling Jobseekers

In March and April, we Jobfind saw strength in the following industries: Accommodation and Food Services; Manufacturing; Administrative and Support Services; Retail; Transport and Warehousing; and Health Care and Social Assistance, Construction and Education and training.

To deliver the best results for employers and our job seekers, Jobfind is working closely with partners providing reskilling and upskilling opportunities in these areas. We are doing this in collaboration with our registered training organisation, the Angus Knight Institute, and our considerable network of other education providers, including via a recently announced national memorandum of understanding (MOU) with TAFE Directors.

Jobfind and ISS

Based in Macquarie Park, ISS is a leading facility management service in Australia and New Zealand. The current Memorandum of Understanding between Jobfind and ISS highlights the commitment to ongoing opportunities for suitable applicants from Jobfind.

Priscilla Beattie, DES General Manager, says working with large industry employers and Angus Knight Institute, who are the training and education division of the Angus Knight Group (AKG), is critical to the success of reskilling and providing employment opportunities.

“The pre-employment program was trialled to support the key needs of the employer, improved awareness of on the job work tasks, success rate as well as ‘right job fit’.”

“The trial had nine complete and obtain a white card from Jobfind, seven were successful and completed the interview pre-screen and are now awaiting employment commencement within relevant schools and other locations.”

ISS contracts are primarily with public schools, TAFEs and government buildings, so further requirements with Police Checks and WWC checks are essential to the referral process and opportunity.

As a way of strengthening and harnessing further opportunities, Jobfind facilitates weekly communications with ISS for local vacancies in cleaning and exploring new opportunities for our jobseekers across other ISS facility services.

Jobfind and Toll 360

Chelsie Hyland, Jobactive General Manager, says Toll 360 requested Jobfind assist them to find staff to fill recruitment needs of their Pick Packing and Warehouse Logistics areas.

“Through Toll 360, the training arm of Toll, 45 jobseekers were selected for a 3-day pre-employment program specific to employer needs. The results speak for themselves with 48 per cent of these jobseekers staying in the job for 12 weeks of these 57 per cent were still employed after 26 weeks.”

The high-quality programs and the collaborations between Jobfind, industry and education providers mean the business can quickly adapt and pursue ongoing pathway options through skilling and direct links to employment.
