Finishing on such a high note last week at our Annual Christmas in July event has set the tone for a great week ahead and many more opportunities for us to help change people’s lives.
Hosted at the iconic MCG, one of the highlights of the day was the opportunity to tour the awe-inspiring venue. It was only fitting that our guest speakers should also have a strong connection with the MCG, both Anthony Koutoufides and Paul Licuria are former AFL greats.
Anthony being recognised as one of the most powerful and athletic players of all-time, he played in almost every position and was often called the prototype of the modern footballer.
Paul Licuria a Copeland trophy winner and inductee into the Collingwood Hall of Fame, Paul is currently the CEO of an online training company.
The day drew a huge crowd of over 150 people and it was great to see some new faces among all the usual suspects!! The enthusiasm with which everyone embraced the day was overwhelming and the costumes reflected just how dedicated our people are, some possibly a little too dedicated in their efforts, although there will be no pointing of fingers (“Dodgeball Duncan and Priscilla”)
Whilst everyone looked amazing, it was the Lucha libre Mexican wrestlers, otherwise known as Team Narre Warren, that took out the award for best dressed!!!
A few of the other notable awards were:
- Best Centre, which taken out by the Richmond office
- Manager of the Year, Rod Anderson from Queen street office
- Special mention, to Maureen Ryan of the Dandenong office on 21 years’ service – an amazing achievement.
Big congratulations to all the winners, all very much deserved accolades.
It was wonderful to see that the awards have created dreams and ambitions making for a bright future.
Thank you to Duncan, Michael and all our guests on what was truly a wonderful day. And a huge special thank you goes out to Mel and everyone who’s tireless efforts behind the scenes brought it all to fruition and ensured yet again, another successful event.
But the last words go to our very own Bibek Bista:
“ the one thing that still rings in my head was the along song to “We are the Champions”. The passionate participation for this song proves that being champions is what we always strive for.
