Career Transition Assistance
The Career Transition Assistance program helps mature-age job seekers build their skills and confidence to get access to better job opportunities and be more competitive in their local job market.
Career Transition Assistance (CTA) will help you make the most of your skills and experience to apply for the best jobs in your area! With an experienced trainer, you will learn how to transfer your skills to different industries, increase your job readiness, and receive the support you need to continue to look for work in a heavily competitive market.
Participants must be 45 years or over and registered with a Jobactive provider.

Who is eligible to participate in CTA?
Participants must be 45 years or over and registered with a Jobactive provider. This includes all Jobactive streams, even if you’re not receiving any income support payments. You can apply for CTA right away! There is no minimum requirement for how long you have to be registered with a Jobactive provider before you are eligible.
How does it work?
If you’re interested in participating in CTA – talk to your provider! It is a voluntary program, meaning referrals to participate need to be requested by a jobseeker from their Jobactive provider. They’ll walk you through the steps and get you signed up to the program. If you have an existing activity in your job plan, you may have to wait until it is completed to start CTA. If appropriate, a provider can remove an activity from your job plan and replace it with CTA. The program is not run in blocks and can start at any time, leaving you free to enrol whenever you want.
You will meet with your CTA provider before starting the program. They will get to know you to understand your needs and assess your ability to use a range of different technologies so they can tailor the program to suit you. The program runs for 8 weeks, with days and times determined by the provider. This will be given to you once you have your initial consultation.
There is a cost for participating in the program, however, it is covered by the Jobactive provider using your Employment Fund. Payments for the program will be automated when you start.
