The Jobs Expo hosted by Jobfind in Waurn Ponds, VIC, in March 2023, served as the catalyst that connected Nick to his ideal job. Just one month later, Nick is working full-time and progressing towards a promotion.
Connecting employers with job seekers
At the Jobs Expo, our team met local employers to understand their business recruitment needs and connect them with suitable job candidates.
Jobfind’s Recruitment Consultant, Rachael Fraser, personally invited local employers to attend the free event. The event gives local companies the opportunity to share their vacancies and work culture with attending job seekers.
Rachael finds that Jobs Expos are an efficient way for her participants in Workforce Australia Employment Services to distribute their resumes to hiring employers and learn more about the opportunities on offer.

Jobfind Job Expos connect employers and job seekers
“Jobs Expos are a great way to connect employers with local people who are searching for work. It’s a win:win,” says Rachael.
At the recent event in March, Rachael met a local employer and learned they were looking for dependable labourers to join their cladding, roofing and safety solutions company.
Nick needed a chance
When our Employment Consultant, Helen Andaras, first met Nick in December 2022, he had been looking for work since 2019. They worked on resume writing and building his motivation and confidence to work. Soon, Nick was applying for jobs. With some historical barriers to overcome, Helen steered Nick towards roles and industries where his skills in maintenance, labouring and teamwork would be valued.
As Nick is proudly Aboriginal, Helen introduced him to Jobfind’s Indigenous Program Manager who recognised that Nick needed an employer who would give him a chance to prove his potential while on the job.
When Recruitment Consultant, Rachael, was called in to help, she immediately thought of her new contacts at the local roofing company.
“They have a great workplace culture and are willing to give people a go,” says Rachael.
The Jobfind team were confident to personally advocate for Nick and to everyone’s delight, he was offered an immediate start as a full-time scaffolding labourer!
Proving himself on the job

Nick works full-time for a scaffolding company
With assistance from the Australian Government’s Employment Fund to purchase new work gear and travel support, Nick commenced full-time work as a scaffolding labourer in April 2023.
In a bonus for his employer, Nick’s position was eligible for a Workforce Australia wage subsidy, up to $10,000* in financial support to hire a new employee.
Just one month in, Nick is loving his job and has even helped a mate secure a job with the same company.
“I enjoy my job. It gives me an income which is important to me now because I have a baby on the way.”
Helen continues to support Nick as he settles into his new role. Things have been going smoothly so far, and Nick is looking forward to taking on more responsibility in a supervisory capacity within the business.
Good luck, Nick! It has been a privilege for our team to assist you in securing this employment opportunity.
