NDIS Supports for School Leaver Kaine

By October 12, 2021October 13th, 2021No Comments

Our NDIS Service continues to assist school leavers significantly and their ability to transition into the workforce and to become job-ready.

Kaine finished school in 2019 and came to Jobfind through the School Leaver Employment Supports SLES program.

At the start of this year, he started working with NDIS Consultant Kathryne Zietsman. Kathryne runs a program for NDIS Service participants every Monday and Wednesday each week to help them get ready for employment.

The program provides support and training on employability skills, including money handling, time management, communication, discovery activities, work experience, job-ready skills, travel skills and personal development.

When Kaine first started in the program, he didn’t say much, and participation was minimal. But, over time, he has come into his own. He is fully involved in the weekly classes, even taking on a mentoring role in the group encouraging others and providing advice on his experiences.

Kathryne is amazed at the considerable effort, and transformation Kaine has made through the service.

“I’m so proud of Kaine and the progress he has made through the NDIS program. In a short amount of time, he has come out of his shell encouraging and mentoring others in the group.

Since May 2021, Kaine has been volunteering at Fearlnea House Shop of Opportunity as a Gardening Coordinator. Everyone at Fearnlea enjoys having Kaine as a volunteer, and he has made connections and is also currently fielding an employment offer.

Kaine is grateful to Jobfind for all of the assistance he has received.

“The NDIS team have been so helpful by assisting me with my needs and listening to me. They work well with me, and I look forward to going to their sessions as now I am feeling more confident and getting out of the house. Thank you for making a difference in my life.”
