In the heart of Cairns, a young man named Nicolas Cruz embarked on a transformative journey with the assistance of Transition To Work (TTW) Jobfind. Initially uncertain about his career trajectory, Nicolas discovered valuable guidance and a supportive environment that helped him to find his passion and career goals.
In May 2023, Nicolas visited the Jobfind Cairns office and quickly built a rapport with the team. He explained that he was unsure of what employment path to take, and he needed some external help for his transition to work. The TTW team put him at ease and helped him to uncover his strengths. They found that Nicolas had great socials skills and enjoyed a team environment.
Jobfind reached out to local employers that they had strong relationships with. They enquired if the employers had any open roles available that would align with Nicolas’ capabilities and strengths. Evo Burgers in Cairns responded that they were interviewing for a role and Nicolas was identified as an ideal fit. Jobfind helped Nicolas with some interview preparation to build his confidence and he was able to secure the position.
Nicolas has made significant progress as a valued team member at Evo Burgers. Under the mentorship of the Evo team, Nicolas has not only refined his own skills within hospitality but has also demonstrated reliability and commitment to his role. Olivia, the manager at Evo Burgers, commends Nicolas for his growth and initiative, and he’s now assuming a leadership position by training two new Jobfind participants who are joining the team!
Recognising his passion for plants and gardening, Nicolas has now enrolled in a Certificate III in Horticulture, which is expanding his skill set and unlocking new employment opportunities for the future!
