The circumstances and situations of our job seekers are varied and many. However, when they first come into contact with a Jobfind Employment Consultant, we are prepared to empower them to achieve their goals and dreams. This is what Nina D’Angelo, ParentsNext Community Engagement Coordinator, did for job seeker Ganeesha.

When the pair met back in late 2020, Ganeesha was unemployed due to COVID and was motivated to study. Nina explained how she could assist with a study path and get her job-ready.

Ganeesha admits she wasn’t that keen to study online and preferred to do face-to-face learning, so Nina found her a course through @pineslearning. It was a Business Administration course (including MYOB) through Pines Learning, and Ganeesha loved it.

She was referred to Healthfind to address mental health issues surrounding her divorce. She gained confidence and coping strategies through the service.

The next step was then to find Ganeesha her dream role. And, since February 2021, she has been working full time in an Administration/Customer Service role in the health sector. Nina also assisted with work clothing through the Employment Fund

Ganeesha is in a great place in her life, and hearing her talk about what having a job means for her is truly inspiring.

“I am so grateful for my job. Knowing I can support my child and myself financially has removed so much stress from my life, especially since my family is overseas.”

Ganeesha is not comfortable being a single parent because of her culture, but with the support of Jobfind, friends and her local Sri Lankan community, she has come a long way and is thriving.

She has even started a side hustle, Ceylon Healthy Bliss, importing authentic Sri Lankan health products. Ganeesha is passionate about sharing her culture so we can experience and enjoy her homeland too. Well done Ganeesha, you are an inspiration!
