Each year we celebrate Autism Awareness Month. Meet our amazing jobseeker Grace, and her wonderful Employment Consultant, Anna Athans.
The pair started working together in March 2020 during lockdown, but they didn’t let COVID get in the way of finding Grace her dream role.
Grace expressed a passion for hospitality and previously completed Certificates 1,2 & 3 in Hospitality. Jobs in the hospitality field were mainly on hold due to COVID, and as more businesses closed their doors, Grace became anxious and disillusioned. Then, a family friend called to offer her a job as a Temperature Tester at St Vincent’s Hospital.
Anna regularly checked in with Grace and suggested she visit the kitchen at the hospital to discuss job opportunities. And guess what? She landed a role working in the kitchen, and she loves it.
