Last week Jobfind conducted its first ever Youth Workshop at Prahran. A voluntary activity made available to clients; twelve attendees participated in the two hour workshop. The aim of the workshop was to plant some new ideas and fresh opportunities through various training and education providers speaking over the course of the day. “Open up everything and see what’s there” Cherie Gayton, Jobfind Business Manager said about clients being presented with new possible opportunities for them.

The workshop consisted of a range of speakers and attendees to provide a range of employment and training options to youth clients. Represented amongst the speakers for the day were Roof Tiling, Aged Care & Disability Care, Traineeships and Apprenticeships and Hospitality industries.

One speaker for the day was from the social hospitality enterprise, STREAT. STREAT has over a decade of experience as a social enterprise working with young people in Melbourne. Youth are employed into hospitality businesses operated by STREAT to give trainees valuable work experience and training.

All Youth Workshop attendees were very engaged throughout the day and Jobfind received positive feedback all-round. Two Jobfind clients were referred into employment following the workshop with other follow up opportunities now taking place. A great effort from the Jobfind Prahran team for all their client support and hard work to make the Youth Workshop such a success.
